Five Marbella must Dos!
Marbella offers a huge number of activities to visitors and locals alike—there truly is something for everyone in the Mediterranean resort town. Indeed, it could be said that ‘When a man is tired of Marbella he is tired of life; for there is in Marbella all that life can afford’—with apologies to Samuel Johnson!
What you actually do in the town depends largely on the individual concerned. Whether you are a party animal or prefer to chill out, like to be active or prefer leisurely, lazy days there is something for you to do. Everyone has their own favourites, but here we thought we would tell you about five of our Marbella Must Dos to put on your itinerary when visiting the fashionable resort town.
Beach Club glamour
A trip to one of Marbella’s 23 beaches is a given—but an absolute must is to try one of the glamorous Beach Clubs the area is so famous for. Whether you want to lie back sipping a cocktail while watching the sun go down, enjoy one of the famous champagne spray parties at a livelier venue, or simply relax on a divine Balinese-style bed with waiter service, few resorts can beat Marbella for beach-style.
See the stars
The annual month-long Starlite Festival brings a host of famous names to Marbella to entertain the cream of Spanish society—and you too can be part of the glitzy event. This year The Corrs, Sir Tom Jones, Robert Plant and Santana are just some of the acts performing under the stars in the Nagüeles arena. Don’t miss out—it is the place to see and be seen.
Sample the real Spain
Many visitors want to get a feel for the ‘real Spain’ showcased in such cities as Sevilla, Ronda and Cordoba. While not too far to visit for a daytrip, the problem with these destinations is the summer heat—with temperatures well in excess of 40°C not uncommon. Fortunately Marbella’s historic Old Town offers a local alternative within cooler seaside temperatures. Dating back to the turn of the 16thC it is a highly picturesque quarter that offers some charming dining options, with an authentic taste of traditional Spain.
Stroll the classy promenade
Marbella’s palm-lined Paseo Marítimo is an elegant seafront walkway that is perfect for an early evening stroll. As the sun goes down and the light softens, marvellous views across the Mediterranean to the Rif Mountains of Morocco make for a very special experience.
Nothing but the best
With four Michelin Star restaurants Marbella offers the chance to dine at some of the finest eateries in the world. Head for Daní Garcia in the Puente Romano Resort, Skina in the Old Town, El Lago in Elviria Hills or Messina on Avenida Severo Ochoa to enjoy award-winning meals of the highest order.
These are just five of our Must Do activities in Marbella—but there are many more. Why don’t you visit the town and discover your very own favourites?
