Summer lifestyle events in Marbella 2022
The summer season brings a very special ambience with it in Marbella. Unmistakably the highlight of the year, it is the time to relax, make the most of life and enjoy the many cultural, sports and leisure events scheduled throughout the sunniest time of year.
In Marbella, summer comes with an enhanced focus on the sea, that natural focal point whose beaches draw locals and visitors alike to dunes, esplanades, coves and sandy expanses dotted with chiringuito bars, beach clubs and seafood restaurants. Sporting activities, while still very much alive during the summer, also shift more towards the sea, as paddle boarding, scuba diving, yachting and jet-skiing take prominence.
Summer is also a time for socialising, entertaining, dining out and dancing the night away, as well as visiting nearby cultural centres such as Ronda and Málaga, and all along the coast there is a long list of events catering to all ages and tastes. One might attend a fashion show, live music dinner and dance, a flamenco show, polo in Sotogrande or a broad choice of concerts that range from classical to rock.
A summer of music and dance
The Marbella Arena, a new venue developed from the old bullring in Puerto Banús, provides the perfect setting for a series of concerts that open with the Undercover Festival from 24th to 26th June, followed by a Beethoven concert conducted by Zubin Mehta on 20th July, Sister Sledge on the 30th and UB40 ft. Ali Campbell on 6th August.
The elegant Starlite Festival this year headlines with the likes of Jason Derulo on 22nd June, Diana Ross on 22nd July and Christina Aguilera on 25th July, while the annual Marenostrum Fuengirola already enjoyed the music of Simply Red at the beginning of June, with more to come. La Cala de Mijas’ own festival will boast the Arctic Monkeys, Kraftwerk and Liam Gallagher (Oasis), forming part of this season’s summer of lifestyle events that include both public and private festivals, launches and parties that embody the cosmopolitan, sociable Marbella way of life.
