5 Marbella locations for 5 Marbella lifestyles
One speaks of a ‘Marbella way of life’, but of course within this there are different lifestyles to be enjoyed within each of the distinct settings and residential zones the area offers. Here are some of the main living options that Marbella makes possible.
Golden Mile beachside elegance
In Marbella, you cannot wish for a more prestigious address than the Golden Mile, the palm tree-lined avenue that links Marbella town and Puerto Banús. Here, especially on the beachfront side, you’ll find sumptuous private villas and estates, some with direct access to the beach and stylish seafood restaurants, chiringuito bars and beach clubs.
The properties here rank among the very finest Marbella has to offer, radiating outwards from the iconic Marbella Club and Puente Romano resort hotels, and embodying the very concept of Marbella glamour and luxury. As demand for property on the Golden Mile outstrips supply, prices regularly exceed €20,000/m2.
La Zagaleta country club
La Zagaleta is the ultimate country club, and one of the finest in all of Europe, with its gated entrance, five-star concierge services, state-of-the-art horse-riding centre and stables, two verdant golf courses and refined clubhouse and restaurant – all reserved for residents and their guests only. If living on the Golden Mile is all about refinement, luxury and glamour, then life in La Zagaleta is about privacy and discretion yet having the world at your fingertips. The fact that La Zagaleta is set within hectares of beautiful countryside further adds to its desirability.
El Madroñal country chic
Situated nearby is another gated community with an exclusive reputation. El Madroñal enjoys much the same in the way of natural surroundings and views, but what sets it apart is the even larger plots and the country feeling its expansive villas evoke within a short ride from Marbella town and the region’s beaches. Golf clubs are just down the road, but once you’re through the gates the abundant natural beauty of this part of Andalucía takes over and the large, luxurious villas epitomise independent country chic living within a stone’s throw of it all.
Nueva Andalucía family life
Set in a large valley just inland from Puerto Banús, Marbella’s largest suburb is also its favourite residential area for families, thanks in large part to a combination of leafy suburban streets, luxurious family villas and apartments, lots of shopping, dining, educational and sports facilities, as well as the fact that Nueva Andalucia is dissected by several of the region’s best golf courses.
These include Las Brisas, Aloha, Los Naranjos and Magna Marbella Golf, a nine-hole course popular with those who like to practise or fit a quick round into their busy schedules. Also known as the ‘Golf Valley’, it is the ultimate family suburb in the region.
Marbella town vibe
More and more foreign homebuyers are also discovering properties for sale in Marbella’s downtown area, a spot they love to visit but are now also increasingly likely to buy in. You can choose from the quaint, mostly car-free charm of the historic centre, or pick up the town vibe in the area between the main Ricardo Soriano Avenue and the sea.
Either way, you will be surrounded by the lively rhythm of a town setting, as well as being within walking distance of shops, restaurants, cafés, museums, parks and of course scenic beaches.
