Christmas in Marbella provides all the joy of the festive season without the cold and rain. You may find yourself dining on the beach over the holiday period or sitting around a cosy log fire enjoying a glass of mulled wine. It is a pleasure to live here through these days of celebration and you need go no further than Marbella to find some amazing Christmas shopping. From specialist boutiques in the quaint, cobbled streets of the Old Town to the luxury brands stocked in the department stores and shopping malls, Marbella has it all.

This is a charming place to shop at any time of year, but during the Christmas period this is amplified by the beautiful street decorations and lights, which the Spanish excel at designing, added to the atmosphere of cheery camaraderie among its citizens that lifts the mood and swells the heart.

Marbella Old Town

Marbella’s Old Town is the perfect place to hunt for unique gifts that will surprise and delight the receiver. From silk scarves and boutiques selling the fashions of emerging designers as well as the well-established brands, inspirational candle shops, bodegas selling fine wines and jamón to perfumeries, shoe shops and children’s toys, its cobbled lanes hold a veritable wealth of surprises. Shops in the centre of Marbella are also welcoming for the Christmas shopper and the main thoroughfare, Ricardo Soriano, is proudly home to a diverse range of stores.

Marbella Shopping Centres

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas in Marbella without a visit to El Corte Inglés, Spain’s premier department store. Whilst it is a pleasure to shop here at any time of year, the store excels itself during the Christmas period. The assortment of ideas for gifts suits every taste and age, and the staff at the store are experts in the art of gift wrapping, a real boon if you are a last minute shopper.

Across the road from El Corte Inglés, there’s Marina Banús which specialises in fashion outlets and where you’ll find the styles perfect for younger people. Bookworld, the coast’s foremost supplier of books in English, also stocks board games, crackers, calendars and diaries that are useful stocking fillers.

La Cañada is Marbella’s shopping mall and at Christmas its decorations and festive activities for youngsters make it an ideal place to visit when you’d like all the shops you want to visit to be under one roof. Here you’ll find brands such as Kiehl’s, L’Occitâne en Provence, FNAC and a stunning selection of fashion boutiques ranging from the big name brands to the smaller labels. These are the stores you won’t find elsewhere.

Marbella also hosts a number of Christmas markets where you can purchase things handmade, from jewellery to fashion to knitwear, candles, art and pottery. There is a Christmas market at the Puerto Deportivo every Sunday during December. La Virginia is one of the most popular Christmas markets and the gifts on sale here are aimed at the discerning shopper.

Christmas shopping in Marbella is a wonderful experience, especially when it can be followed by lunch out on a sunny terrace!
